"Hatty and Stu. Sounds like a sitcom about a lovable old British couple who argue constantly about his drinking and her meddling," Chloe remarked. "But I hope you two will be very happy together."

"You left out their gossipy, bitchy neighbor who operates under these bizarre delusions she has created to protect herself from certain realities she refuses to accept." Hatty took a breath. "Those realities being that Stu doesn't love you anymore, and anyway you broke up with him in the first place."

Chloe regarded her with a look that said nothing she didn't want it to say. Then added aloud, "Oh did I touch a nerve?"
